BlogPhiladelphia is Going Green

June 15th, 2007 by annie

Hi Everyone:

We’ve slacked on our blogging here because we’ve been jamming IRL on making this “unconference”  (sorry, Alex) spectacular. Recently, we’ve been meeting with local “green” and “sustainability” experts to brainstorm how we can be as green conscious as possible at our event. If we can lessen our carbon footprint, you bet we will. Note that we’ve also added a “Green Blogosphere” session as well. It should be interesting to learn how we can all lend more support to the green movement via our blogs and other social media tools.

Thanks to everyone who submitted open-grid ideas. We’ll be emailing you shortly to confirm your slots; check back on the sessions page later today and next week to see what’s coming.

Finally, for the out of towners (and the hardcore locals!), we leave you with this mouthwatering taste of Philly…want it wit whiz or wit out?

The momentum increases…

An exciting day today for BlogPhiladelphia! We reached 100 in number of registered attendees and we are featured on the homepage and throughout Philly Fun Guide.

Also, check the sessions page - we continue to add experts and sessions!

Please leave any comments or suggestions on areas that you would like to see covered at the “unconference.”

OK people, we’re blogging!

May 31st, 2007 by annie

Hi everyone:

So we’re here and we’re blogging! Thanks to everyone for their support of and enthusiasm for our “unconference” - and your patience with this site!

We’ve been working really hard to get around Philly and meet with many of you in the web/social media/creative communities and answer your questions about BlogPhiladelphia. Clearly, we haven’t reached everyone out there.

This post will hopefully clarify any questions you may have. First, this unconference is open to anyone who is working in with social media or wants to learn more about it.

What is social media? It’s all of those technology buzzwords you hear about all day, every day anymore: avatars, blogs, vlogs, podcasts, social networks, microblogging, mobile technology, text/sms, virtual communities, community-edited news sites, social bookmarking sites, instant messenger and more more more!

We’re working to assemble a large group of experts in all of these areas to come and lead informal sessions on July 12th and 13th at the Radisson Plaza-Warwick Hotel in center city Philly.

What’s an unconference? It’s an open forum for discussion. We arrange the sessions, you come to listen, ask questions and absorb as much information as you possibly can. You can float freely among the sessions - some will run simultaneously. Stay for the open-grid where locals show us what they’ve learned and what they are doing. Meet some of those mysterious bloggers that you read every day and haven’t seen.

And eat some food and enjoy entertainment that will be provided by our sponsors.

Go on now to check out the sessions; and leaders that we have to date and then hurry up and register!!

-Annie
